|Precious no longer on SABC airwaves|
POLOKWANE - The SABC has ended the services of yet another radio presenter.
Phalaphala FM’s Precious Maiwashe has been off air since May following allegations that she made a comment on air that did not go down well with management. She apparently accused one of her colleagues on air of being biased and unprofessional during the final game of the previous Premier Soccer League season.
SABC spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago, confirmed Maiwashe was taken off air but did not say why. "It must be noted that Ms Maiwashe is a freelancer with the station and not a full time employee. We thus cannot suspend the employee but we can take them off air and we are not at liberty to comment on this matter as this is a contractual issue and we respect the rights of both parties," he said.
Asked to comment, Maiwashe referred Polokwane Express to Phalaphala FM’s station manager Freddy Sadiki.
"I don't want to talk about this because I don’t know why I was taken off air, so contact the SABC, they will explain it to you," she said.
Not so long ago a Munghana Lonene news reader was also let go after he accused another presenter on air, while under the influence of alcohol, of lying to listeners.
